The Academy for Facilities Management (A4FM) is proud to announce the Michiel Loubser Memorial Bursary for deserving students who are interested in achieving a formal Facilities Management qualification. This is the most significant bursary available in the SA FM industry and will assist ten students to obtain a formal tertiary FM qualification.

Conditions and Requirements:

An amount of R150 000, 00 has been made available for this bursary; R15 000 per deserving student to study for the Higher Certificate in Facilities Management (NQF5/120 credits), or the Advanced Certificate in Facilities Maintenance Management (NQF6/130 credits).

Please note that:

  1. The bursary covers 50% of the study fee and any applicant who accepts the bursary will have to come to an agreement with the Academy for the rest of the study fees.
  2. No money will be paid to any successful applicant as the bursary will cover registration and tuition fees per module / subject as per the amount specified above.
  3. The tuition fee includes, study notes, as well as text books (electronic or hard copy), lectures, etc., but not supplementary tests or exams, not due to illness.
  4. Application for the HCFM bursary is open to anyone who:
    • Has a valid matric / Grd 12 certificate.
    • Is employed in the field of Facilities Management.
    • Who’s employer does not provide a bursary or study loan of any nature (Proof will be required).
  5. Application for the ACFMM bursary is open to anyone who:
    • Has a valid NQF5 qualification relevant to FM.
    • Who’s employer does not provide a bursary or study loan of any nature (Proof will be required).
  6. Also note that:
    1. The bursary requires that a student will pass all subjects in every semester in order to continue receiving the bursary in the next semester.
    2. The bursary will be terminated if a student fails any subject outright or ceases to participate without written communication with A4FM.
    3. It is highly unlikely that more than one employee from the same company will be awarded the bursary in any given year.
    4. Preference will be given to those applicants who do not work for large provider organisations or corporates.
    5. The Academy reserves the right to terminate the bursary / agreement with any student at any time.
  7. Interested parties need to present their background and employment information to the Academy. Ensure that you also include:
    1. Your employment history and FM experience.
    2. A copy of your matric certificate or other highest qualification.
    3. Clearly motivate why you should be considered for this bursary.
  8. The results of the bursary applications will be available no later than the first week in January. The decision by the Academy in this regard is final. The Academy will not provide reasons for the award or otherwise of a bursary to anyone and will not engage in any correspondence with anyone regarding this matter.
